Apply to this position Description LifeScan, Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Senior HW Reliability Engineer located in Milpitas, Ca. or West Chester Pa. LifeScan, Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with diabetes by developing, manufacturing and marketing a wide range of glucose monitoring systems and software for use by people with diabetes and by health care providers. The ONETOUCH Brandof consumer and institutional products includes portable electronic meters and disposable reagent test strips to provide accurate, less painful glucose readings and the software tools to transform this information into actionable health care decisions. The Senior HW Reliability Engineer will report to the Principal Scientist for LifeScan. Responsibilities will primarily be implementing state-of-the-art product reliability engineering focus and improvements in design and development of product (Design for Reliability). In order to predict the life expectancy of our self-monitoring blood glucose meters and strips the Senior HW Reliability Engineer will develop test protocols for accelerating aging testing. He/she will develop reliability test protocols and assess reliability risk with RoHS compliant products. He/she will perform HALT and HAST testing to identify product weakness during the design phase. The Senior HW Reliability Engineer will also implement Statistical Process Controls (SPC) in manufacturing to monitor CPk and life time testing, determine point of failure and Mean-Time to Failure (MTTF).of products to ensure process or performance of the components do not change. The Senior HW Reliability Engineer generally operates with independence in planning and conducting design/development engineering assignments involving projects of major magnitude and scope for sub-project elements. He/she develops procedures and practices and devises new approaches to problem solving. The Senior HW Reliability Engineer will be responsible for engineering project planning, scheduling, cost analysis, engineering resource planning and coordinating detailed phases of assigned engineering work to meet technical specifications. He/she functions as a primary technical resource for specific product groups. Their work may be more strategic in nature. The Senior HW Reliability Engineer may direct the technical work of lower level engineers and technicians. In addition the Senior HW Reliablity Engineer will evaluate progress and results and recommends major changes in procedures or objectives and demonstrates leadership abilities. Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required with an emphasis on Electrical or Mechanical engineering. A Master’s degree or PhD is preferred. A minimum of 7 years of industry experience is required.Medical device product development experience preferred. Reliability testing of hand held devices is required. Reliability testing of Blood Glucose meters is preferred. Thorough understanding of MIL, JEDEC, IPC, ISO, Telcordia and EIA standards for handheld electronic products is required. Knowledge of statistics and Design Excellence is required. Experience in stress, HAST, HALT, and mechanical testing preferred.
