Description The Product Director will work with Market Research, R&D, Medical and broad cross-functional team to: generate consumer, science and technology insights, distill those insights into clear and compelling global growth platforms, translate insights and platforms into growth opportunities via new products, new categories and base business applications and improve upon the Global Innovation Process. Advance Strategic Marketing initiatives and responsibilities, including: generate scope, sizing and valuation of platform opportunities, translate global platforms and broad strategies into specific equity and regional objectives and action plans, further company knowledge estate in new categories, claims, consumers and processes and demonstrate role of individual projects in broader portfolio and strategic plan. Lead new product development activities by owning metrics, milestones and deliverables for individual projects including: develop business case for product screens: e.g., 3C analysis (Category, Competition and Consumer) and strategic rational (strategic fit, equity fit, competency fit, global fit), finalize positioning: target, source of volume, benefits, claims, competitive assessment, pricing, determine targeted product profile and attributes to support positioning, develop product lifecycle and multi-generational path, including multi-year go-to-market strategy and sustainable business model to deliver sales and profit targets , create a preliminary forecast, determine impact of new products on company portfolio (products and financial), and develop financial and non-financial dashboard, partner with Business Development and Supply Chain to determine best make/buy/license execution of opportunity, create solutions in response to clinical, technical or financial constraints, deliver presentations and proposals in innovation governance forums and share accountability for the outcome of organizational actions taken based on recommendations made.
Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. An MBA is preferred. A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or Over the Counter (OTC) industry is required. Must be a self-starter, demonstrating a sense of urgency and initiative to meet goals. Flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity is required. Experience leading highly matrixed, cross-functional teams is required. Leading multi-geographic work teams is preferred. Identifying and driving alignment with multiple stakeholder groups is required. Successfully managing line businesses is preferred. Developing and implementing financially viable business models/business plans is preferred. Leading new product innovation from concept to execution is preferred. Launching transformational new products is preferred. Managing multiple projects and dealing with multiple priorities within a time sensitive environment is required. This position requires up to 20% domestic and international travel.
