Apply to this position Description This position reports directly into the Director, Market Insight & Business Analytics and is responsible for supporting or leading processes around portfolio SKU management, Business and Strategic planning, Category planning and forecasting, Business Performance Assessment, and Media Planning and/Optimization and ultimately translating the understanding into strategies that drive growth. For a given Franchise, this position supports these 5 key areas. Specific responsibilities include supporting and/or leading: Strategic Planning Process and Business Planning Process: Integration of Company Priorities, Consumer, Customer, Competitive and Market Insights to set Brand Strategies via Integrated Business reviews, Portfolio optimization, market structure insights and simulations and identifying optimal A/C/T across portfolio. Hands on experience with simulation tools to guide Brand/Portfolio optimization. Category Planning: Application of business analytics to support category planning, forecasting and what-if scenarios via understanding and application of marketing mix analyses, consumption and shipment modeling, new product forecasting, seasonal analysis, external factors (e.g. Cox II). Lead and optimize f/c models for the franchise. Drive Brand’s understanding of the drivers of variance in monthly forecast via deep dives in to f/c due-to’s; lead monthly business review for the franchise. Share insights and challenge assumptions at the monthly forecast meetings. Business Performance Assessment: Monitoring of Category, Portfolio and Brand Performance with fact-based analyses via dashboards linked to strategies/business plans; via trackers of consumption, trial and repeat estimates for new products with early warning analyses and implications; composing and distributing dashboards that link directly to Demand COMPSTAT forum; analyzing data to quantify sales from marketing events with intent to improve ROI on A/C/T with guidance on program effectiveness and efficiency. Identify and validate best way to measure Professional and Emerging Markets’ program efforts. Media Optimization: Identify and recommend the right media platforms to enable brand strategies; developing and testing media platforms and leveraging these platforms across the portfolio; building media analytics beyond TV to include non-traditional media; identify and implement test and learns as appropriate. Responsible for leading and driving overall SKU Management Strategy for the company: Enable better informed product portfolio decisions and increase company net income by influencing 4 “levers” at the SKU level:increase sales, earn price, decrease costs and rationalize. Measure, track and report top line sales and bottom line profitability impact of SKU level changes related to existing portfolio, new products and market driven opportunities. Represent total portfolio view of SKU level decisions (vs. Brand or Franchise view). Sustain process, build capabilities and help achieve company’s financial objectives. Coordinate cross-functional input, analysis, recommendation and execution across BSI, Marketing, Operations, Sales, Finance, Commercialization, and Demand Planning. Accountability for tools, process, tracking and optimization Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in business or an analytical discipline is required. A Masters Degree and/or MBA is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of experience as a vendor and/or direct experience in the CPG or OTC industry is required. A minimum of 5 years of analytical experience is required. Business partnering skills are required. Prior people management experience is required. SKU assortment and rationalization experience is preferred. Experience in a consumer products environment with hands-on knowledge of market mix modeling; SKU assortment and optimization; and other statistical modeling techniques are preferred. Consumer packaged goods (CPG) and/or Over the Counter (OTC) experience is required. Experience working with syndicated and panel data (i.e. IRI, Nielsen, etc) is required. Prior Sales, Marketing and/or Demand Management experience is preferred. Strong interdependent partnering and influencing skills are required. Creative problem solving and strong analytical skills to investigate and reduce forecast error and to predict unit volume and share performance are required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Careful attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required. Demonstrated leadership skills are required for potential future professional growth. Ability to work independently is required.
