Subject: Need some help with Ubuntu/Resetting Gnome menus
From: Ignoramus23492

I am trying Ubuntu, which I installed in parallel with Fedora.
After a short while of screwing around, I got it to the point where I
can ssh to it, install various packages like mplayer, etc.
However, I have a problem. When I start a GNOME session, I get a blank
beige screen, the mouse moves and stuff, but gnome-panel, nautilus and
other things do not come up. X works OK, but with no useful content.
I created a test user and its menus are perfect. I blew away all
.gconf* and .gtk* and shit like that, in my own account, but it is not
helping.
How can I wipe out my Gnome config and start with a "clean slate".
Thanks
