Anybody know? Details Count. If this LCD is attached to a desktop machine via VGA or DVI cables, the LCD's brightness is controlled by switches and a menu on the LCD itself. X doesn't enter into it. If this LCD is connected to a laptop via laptop-specific connectors, there are usually more options. Some laptops, like many Thinkpads, have special key combinations for adjusting LCD brightness (Fn-PgUp and Fn-PgDn). These key combinations are actually independent of X. If you're using a laptop, you need to provide the make and model# of the laptop, or no one will be able to give you accurate information. -- "Unfortunately, men befriend women in futile attempts to get a 3D accelerated video card thingy..." -- MegaHAL (trained on ASR), 1998-11-05 Matt G|There is no Darkness in Eternity/But only Light too dim for us to see
