Subject: SCSI raid setup

I have a Fedora Core 1 system I am updating to Fedora 8. A lot has changed since Core 1. In particular, the device mapper is now a standard feature. My Core 1 system has a 5-device SCSI raid array I need to access under Fedora 8 after the upgrade, and I would prefer not to lose the data in the process. I currently have Fedora 8 installed in a dual-boot arrangement, but it does not seem that the raid array is recognized under Fedora 8. Do I need to do a "mdadm --create" in Fedora 8 to get the array recognized? If so, is the --create process destructive of data currently residing on the array or does it simply create configuration details for the kernel to access the array properly? In either case, what is my best option for getting the array recognized in Fedora 8? -- John (john@os2.dhs.org)
