Subject: Is it possible to upgrade from a live cd?

Hi folks,
I have a FC6 machine that only has a CDROM drive, but the latest FC8
distros are only available on DVD.
Previous CD based distros could be used to both install a new version, and
to upgrade an existing version, does anyone know if the live cd versions
can upgrade older versions, as I have lots of data that I don't want to
lose.
Many thanks,
Dave

But basically you're saying that upgrading an older version from a live cd
is possible?
