Installing from an external USB drive may be a problem because you probably
need to mount it first. And you may not be able to do that until Fedora is
installed.
A safer option may be to burn the Live version of Fedora to CD and use that
either to install the full version or to mount your external DVD drive. You
can consider a full net install without using either a CD or DVD.
The Live CD also allows you to access the internet and the Fedora IRC
channels if you have installation problems which is added bonus.
Finally, the Fedora IRC channels are the best forum for your query. You are
more likely to receive immediate and expert advice over there
