Subject: updating Enterprise Linux4, yum?

Hello, I've been given the job of updating and streamlining an Enterprise Linux ES 4 box, normally i do updates on rhel/centos and variant boxes with yum, this one doesn't seem to have that package. Is there a yum package for es4 or do i have to go with rpm or up2date, both of which are on the box? I'm not as comfortable with these tools as i am with yum, because i can get dependencies with yum. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks. Dave.

If you have an active subscription to rhn for that box, up2date will do much of what yum will. If the subscription has expired, your best bet would be to convert it to CentOS (which can be done without reinstalling), and then use yum as you're used to. -- Joshua Baker-LePain Department of Biomedical Engineering Duke University
