I've had phenomenally good results with the plextor convertX usb tuner. Notes: 1) encodes to divx mpeg4. Bad if you're going to make DVDs and would have to retranscode to mpeg2. 2) Mine is NTSC. You'll have to check if there's a PAL version. 3) no remote control. Get a streamzap remote control for it. Another good choice is the mickysoft mce usb remote control. I've been using one for two years and the worst problem I've had is that 2.6.17 and later kernels need a patch that is relatively easy to locate.
