Subject: Could a 300w power supply run 6 hdd on a PII mb?

Hello that's the question I'm goig to setup a file server on an old PII mb with a PII 233 cpu on it and with 6 HD. To power them I'd like to use a 300W fanless Power suply. Do you think it's possible? How much watt does a HD 3:5 take? Thank you serge

I found that you need about 25W per HDD for reliable startup. They consume significantly less when running. Deduce 100W for the mainboard and you should be able to run 8 HDDs with this PSU. Arno
