Subject: Edmonton House Starts Nosedive 42%

The Edmonton Journal had a banner headline story, detailing the DEPRESSION now in Edmonton.
Housing starts from October to November have nosedived over 42%.
Several reasons can account for this phenomenon.
The city council is so anti-business, that Superstore is forced to file a lawsuit for
$127 MILLION against Edmonton.
Murders and serious crime are so prevalent, that again Edmonton will have the
dubious distinction of being the MURDER CAPITAL of Canada.
The overpriced police chief is more interested in red light cameras to get more cash,
rather than catching serious criminals.
Edmonton is planning a tax hike of around 15%, with no better services.
This compares to only 4.5% in booming Calgary, where the city managers
are not just toadies on the public trough!
No wonder shoppers do their Christmas shopping in Great Falls Montana,
and Spokane and Seattle Washington, going there in massive bus convoys
to buy cars, trucks, clothing, computers, and even food,
at huge discounts over local pricing.
Massive bankruptcies of local firms is expected within a month, after
the Christmas sales fail to materialise.

I hear Bronco is overspent $2B in Calgary, we expect the same kind of hike
at least in the next year or two. Bronco spends more time whining about
money than managing it.

I chose Kalispell and Whitefish. A little quieter of an area, well stocked,
has a Costco, Walmart, Target etc. Great selections, clean stores, great
prices and even on stuff we can't get here even if we wanted to. Great
places to eat and friendly people. Not hard to find a decent room for $60
and $22 buys pizza with a jug of beer. Usually go down via Rooseville and
come back up 89 to Alberta. Nice drive. Lots of Alberta plates, you know
as if you see one come at you without a plate, look in the rearview, it is
Red Alberta.
Became a nice game, 1 point for spoting Alberta first. Minus 2 points if
your call was wrong.

I only buy local what I need to. If it is over my limit at the border, I
just stop and pay the GST. No big, pay GST here too. Slide the foreign
stuff in your limit, and declare the US/CAN/Mex made stuff like adult jeans
for $13.
And BTW, even if it is something like a Yamaha toy, pay the GST and duty.
No big.
We used to do this once per year, going to make it 3 times a year. This
time we noticed even bigger savings than ever before. In part because we
caught Shoe Source with winter only shoes and were looking for summer shoes
too early.
