Your warranty comments are inaccurate ...
Once the car is registered in Canada (if originally bought in the USA) , the
warranty will be void ... in Canada AND the USA
People are always under the impression you can run to the US to get the
warranty work done ... but generally this is not at all true.
Speaking from personal experience.
But, even with the savings, 10,000.00 will pay for a LOT of repairs.

From what I heard you comments on the warranty are true, only for Ford, GM,
and some others. Toyota and (I think, but not certian) Honda said they
would honor the warranty in Canada even if purchased in the States. So if
you are a fan of the "Big 3", then buyer beware about purchasing in the
States. But if you want a Toyota (much better vehicle in my opinion
anyway!), then you are safe there. Like anything else, all things being
equal, if I know two brands where one company is ripping off the consumer a
little less than the other (no one is guilt free!), then I'll buy that one.
Ford and GM are two brands I'll never buy again.
I'm not in the boat of needing another car for another 3 or so years. If I
were needing a new (or used) car, then I would, without hesitation, travel
the short trip into Maine to buy it.
Cheers,
joe

here's the truth of which companies will & will not honour warranties

Hey Jack, that was an excellent find. Lets us know which companies
discriminate against Canadians.
Looks like Ford and Toyota are the two big main stream winners here. But
they do also practice price discrimination.
But there is a legal action happening too.

And if you bought a GM, Honda, Chrysler or Nissan consider joining: (They
are considering other manufactures as well). In a nutshell they get your
facts, their fees are contingent on recovery. That is, they don't win it
does not cost you anything. They win, they get 25% and some fees. You get
the balance. Looks promising they will win.

All in all, I find it VERY odd that the Car companies, and/or givernments
can tell me where I can spend my money ....
They need to adjust pricing so this then becomes a non-issue. Very simple.

No big deal. Most Canadian banks even offer US cash and chequing accounts.
Plus you can get them cut off a US bank and certified. I believe Amex used
to do this, the bank gave me a bad rate some years ago and just walked into
Amex, wrote a cheque, gave them the name and they too cut me a US bank draft
off of a US bank.
Show around for large sums. $500 saved is $1000 earned.

I just bought a couple of computer parts - water cooling block kits for my
video cards (SLi too). I got them from a US online site that I have
bought from in the past, so I know they are reputable.
http://www.xoxide.com/tt-tmg-nd3-cooler.html
$36.99
The best deal I could find for that card is on NCIX.com and it is almost
double the price. Even with the extra import duties its cheaper to buy a
lot of things online like this.
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23549&vpn=CL-W0119&manufacture=THERMALTAKE
$63.21
Usually NCIX will pricematch, but b/c the difference is more than %20, they
can't do it b/c, as the disclaimer states, 'is most likely from a US store'.
Well duh, you just lost my business for today.
