After factoring in income taxes alone, forget the burden of both GST/PST combined... I figure staying in Alberta saves me enough for at least 3 weeks of 3 - 4 fly in fishing trips a year. Best to go to BCIT and get welding, plumbing, millwright, electrician, mechanic, diesel, chemistry, geology, home construction or something but not Information Technology. At the rate government policies are exporting our businesses I/T is ever increasingly being done in the US, India or elsewhere. People need to develop skills that cannot be easily imported or exported and need to be done right here to be of lasting value.
