One of my ancestors, a great-great grandfather, participated in the lynching of Joseph Smith, the Mormon leader, dragging him out of a jail in Carthage Illinois and shooting him to death. As such, I (and my descendents) are in the thrall of a Mormon curse. I show Mormon missionaries the appropriate news cuttings from the Hancock County newspaper of the day, and go into detail about the lynching.
